Meet David Mack

We had the opportunity to meet David Mack at the First Thursday event at Floating World Comics. He gave a presentation about his art, process, and inspiration. He had a ton of art (both on the walls and in his portfolio). He graciously spoke with dozens of fans, reviewed portfolios, accepted mini-comics, and offered tricks and tips to aspiring creators.

(A page from Kabuki: the Alchemy. The sickle in the background is actually a picture of a Mack family heirloom which he included as a nod to his mother)

(Another page from Kabuki: The Alchemy. Note the extensive use of acetate overlays)

(A collage page from Kabuki: The Alchemy)

(Side view of the same page. Yes, that was a real cassette tape that he used!)

(Detail of a page from the second Kabuki collection, Dreams. David used electrical tape to create the effect he was going for.)

David has agreed to sit down with us for a one on one (or is it two on one since there are two of us?) interview this week to talk all things Kabuki. Look for that interview to be uploaded later in the week! If you have any questions for David Mack, feel free to leave them in the comments.
